celebrate in style

My daughter had her 5th birthday party and requested an American Girl doll theme.  I wanted something easy to reproduce that was similar to the logo and color scheme.  I was able to find a comparable font online ("innerStar") for the inside information.

{stars}

I love the bright cheery colors of the CR84FN Color Challenge 50.  The weather here has been dreary so I really wanted to start playing with spring colors.  Fortunately today the sun has popped out and the kids have been able to play outside.  I sure hope this sunshine continues!!

ink: VersaColor opera pink; A Muse orange & buttercup

twinkle, twinkle

Now that my desk is clean, I've been wanting to do some more challenges.  I love Susan Raihala's gorgeous one layer cards, so I thought I'd give the One-Layer Wednesday challenge #82 a try.  While I do simple cards, I don't do one-layer cards.  It requires too much planning, precision, and color palette knowledge.  All of which are my downfalls.

My girlfriend had a baby on Leap Day (how cool is that?) and who better to give a card to than a sleep deprived mother?  They can't remember if they ate breakfast, let alone if your card was perfect or not!

I can't tell you how badly my fingers were itching to add some tiny rhinestones, buttons or twine to this card.

a|s consultant blog hop

Hello all you hoppers!  Are you getting ready for the 4th of July or already celebrating?  My girlfriend is getting married this weekend, so I'm off to her bachelorette party tonight and her wedding this Sunday.  Then my Independence Day celebrating will begin.

If you are participating in the blog hop, you should have come from Lori Barnett's blog and if not, then you can start from Samantha's blog and hop until you come to my blog.

This month Americans are reminded of all the men and women who have sacrificed or are sacrificing for our freedom.  I personally want to say thank you to all the men and women who are a part of the US Military!

usa & god bless you

Our small community always has a parade (rather large for the size) and my parents host a big party in their driveway with drinks, decorations, and brunch.  Everyone brings more food and more chairs.  We eat, chat, cheer on the fun runners that run by, then settle in and watch the parade go by (and pick up as much candy as possible).   What are your 4th plans?  Any traditions?  Any new plans?

A few patriotic cards for you, before the 4th of July.  Which sentiment do you prefer?  Which size font?

stamp: Savvy stripes; Impress "u", "s", & "a"; Papertrey Ink "god bless you"

happy birthday to you

Who doesn't need more manly cards?  After I saw this card by Nichole Heady, I was thrilled to know that I had practically the same supplies.  I was a bit disappointed that my chamomile argyle pattern barely shows up next to the words.  Next time I'll grab some darker ink.
stamp: A Muse circles; Savvy "happy birthday to you"; Papertrey Ink background type font
ink: Memento rich cocoa; VersaColor pinecone; Papertrey Ink chamomile
