I made these cards one year for our Christmas cards.  I copied them from a display at Impress a long time ago.

Last year our mother daughter group made some Christmas crafts.  I realized I never posted them.  This one is "souper" fun.  You take a pop-top can (soup can size*), cut open the bottom with a can opener (but leave one part attached), empty the contents, wash, rinse, and dry the can (really well).  Then fill it with treats, a gift card, or little gifts. Finally hot glue the bottom shut and decorate the can.  When you give the can to someone, they get to pop the top for their present.  It's quite fun!

*If you are going to make a bunch of these make sure the style of can you pick can actually be opened by a can opener from the bottom.  We found that certain brands or types of foods couldn't be opened with a can opener from the bottom.

I'm not the self-proclaimed "copying queen" for nothing.  Layouts and color combinations don't come easily to this brain.  That's why I love reading blogs and checking out Pinterest.  I was able to make two valentine cards that I stole from some very creative ladies for our studio stampers blog hop.


The first card is an adorable clean and simple card by the extremely talented Cristina.  My card is a complete joke next to hers, but you get the idea.

I stole the next card from Krystie Hersch.  I just love the tree and felt heart combo and wanted to "reuse" for Valentine's Day.  Krystie has an amazing eye for color.  Mine looks a tad christmasy.  I wish I did the tree in french roast.

Papertrey's Blog Hop challenge this month (thanks for getting me crafting again) is called "Holidays Leftovers".  My leftovers include tags, mini chevron envelopes, and ribbon from wrapping presents.  I made a little holiday thank you card, just one of the many I need to use for all the amazing gifts my family and I received.

Linda was also really good at using embellishments that added to the pop of a card.  I typically keep my cards flat as I often mail them.  This was fun to use the wire.  I'll have to get it back out!

Our small community always has a parade (rather large for the size) and my parents host a big party in their driveway with drinks, decorations, and brunch.  Everyone brings more food and more chairs.  We eat, chat, cheer on the fun runners that run by, then settle in and watch the parade go by (and pick up as much candy as possible).   What are your 4th plans?  Any traditions?  Any new plans?

Here's another stash of old cards that I found the pictures floating around in my computer.  The first three I made with my friend Mandy (Stampin' Demonstrator) and the last one my friend Aimee made for a shoe box swap, but it's Stampin' Up stuff too.

Every year my mom's friend requests a set of New Years cards.  I've been loving my Papertrey Library Pocket die cut so I decided to make a little tag pull-out on the front.  The scrolls/swirls that are in VersaMark didn't show up in the photos.
